Ersa Mae Edmonds married November 3, 1938 in Dekalb County, Tennessee to Jesse Cope; (son of George Cope and Elizabeth Jane [Betty] Martin Cope).
2 children were born of this union to Jesse Cope;
Martha Louena Cope Henderson Adcock, and Jesse Verble Cope.
She grew up in the Peeled Chestnut and Cassville area of White County, Tennessee.
Times were hard for the Edmonds family with 11 surviving children during the depression years. Eight boys and three girls, were born to her late parents, William McFarland Edmonds and Melvina (Vina) Steele Edmonds.
She was also preceded in death by her parents first born infant in August 1908 and her sister Vesta 'Florine' Davis.
She married Waymon Carter and moved with her growing family to Kissimmee, Florida in April 1959.
Ersa retired from many years at McCoy AFB as a cafeteria worker; later called McDill AFB.
This is presently the location of Orlando International Airport.
She was only 60 years old when cancer claimed her. Her 22nd grandchild was born six weeks after her passing. She never knew the joy of great grandchildren.
Married November 21, 1946 to Waymon B Carter. (son of Robert [Bob] Ferrell Carter and
Avo Elrod Carter) and 7 more children were born; all of them in Tennessee, with the last one (Maxie) born in Florida.
Virginia 'Faye' Summers, Wilma 'Jeanette' Lott, Dillous 'Wayne' Carter, Brenda Gail Pegg,
Michael Stevon (Steve) Carter, Jorena Kathleen (Rena) Carter, and Maxie Ferrellon Carter.
numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Survived also by her step-son James Milas (Bonnie McClish) Carter.
3 step-grandchildren - Marcia Ann, James William and Barbara Jo Carter.

Her name was actually 'Ersie' Mae, but she liked 'Ersa' better, so that's what she used, although it was spelled with an "a" on one of the Tennessee census.
