Leonard came to Oklahoma Territory from Tennessee with his family and settled in the Noble area where he never left. He farmed a small farm east of town after marrying Effie Black. They were very popular in the community and enjoyed playing music for many events. Leonard played the fiddle and Effie played the piano. They were never able to have children of their own but took others into their home over many years.
