Jane was a beloved wife, mother and friend to many. She was a homemaker who devoted many years of her life caring for her son Ronald, who had muscular dystrophy.
Jane enjoyed spending time at her and Edward's cottage on Lake Wisconsin, taking walks, playing Yahtzee, sharing memories, and laughter with family and friends.
She was a wonderful story teller, who also enjoyed reading and doing word puzzles.
Jane is survived by her two children, eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Edward; two sons, Thomas and Ronald; her parents; her three brothers, Leroy, Edward and Russell Ophime; and two sisters, Dorothy Ricky and Adeline Shapiro.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 2, at the Funeral Home. Jane's family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at Oakwood Village East Knoll and Meadows, who cared for Jane during her six-year stay. Thank you to the Hospice staff members, Jane, Kirsten, Kitty, Angie, Amber and Marty for your assistance over the last three years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to HospiceCare Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711; or to the Oakwood Foundation, 6201 Mineral Point Road, Madison, WI 53705. Gunderson East Funeral and Cremation Centers assisted with arrangements.
Her obituray and a photo can be found in the Wisconsin State Journal on May 31, 2010 (Madison.com)
