He was a native and resident for most of his life of Buncombe County, and a son of the late Lonnie DeVault Ledford and Mary Elizabeth Smith Nine.
Mr. Ledford was formerly employed with the Rankin-Patterson and Thrash Fuel companies as a truck driver. He was a former member of Black Mountain F.W. Baptist Church in Barnardsville.
Surviving are his daughter, Patricia Surrett, of Clyde; former wife, Helen Cutie Ledford, of Asheville; sisters, Grace Maynor, of Weaverville, and Bertha Justice and Effie Blankenship, both of Asheville; brothers, Emory, Clyde and Ed Ledford, all of Baltimore, and Dee Ledford, of New Jersey; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastors Nelson Ponder and Bill Ponder officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
