NICHOLAS LEE HAGEN, 19, was born February 5th, 1991 in Cresco, IA. Nick passed away on May 25th, 2010 after a car accident.

Nick loved life. He was the loving son of Rick and Sandy Hagen of Cresco, IA and a loving brother of Jacob (21) and Ryan (17). He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Nick was always a selfless person. He was constantly thinking about others and always going out of his way to help others. His smile was constantly warming lives and his laugh was always resonating through his friends and family. As a child, it was evident that sports were going to be an important part of his life. Anyone that knew Nick knew that he was the biggest Green Bay Packer fan.

In high school Nick focused on wrestling, football, cross-country, golf, and baseball. As a freshman he made it to the State Wrestling tournament. He lettered in nine sports and was honored with the Nine Letter Award at graduation. He was always organizing wiffle ball games, football games, and sand volleyball games. He loved people and people loved him. He enjoyed all kinds of music and loved to sing. He also enjoyed playing games and camping with friends and family. Nick also loved animals, especially cats.

Nick graduated from Crestwood High School in 2009. He just completed his first year of college at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA. The highlight was his flag football team winning the championship. Nick enjoyed running in races. A highlight was winning the Cresco Gravel Grinder in 2009.

Nick is survived by his parents: Rick and Sandy Hagen; brothers: Jacob and Ryan of Cresco, IA; grandparents: Dean and LaRue Hagen of Decorah, IA, John and Pam Bruning of Rochester, MN. He is survived by his aunts and uncles: Jane and Rocky McCaleb of Rochester, MN, Georgiann Hagen of Boone, IA, David and Jussara Hagen of Cedar Rapids, IA and Wes Brinkman of Cresco, IA; cousins: Bryan, Kevin, John, Jarred, Nora, Natalia, Asle, Karl, Hadlee, and Blayne. Nick is also survived by a special friend, Kristen Malanaphy, of Decorah, IA.

He is preceded in death by his aunt, Connie Brinkman.

The family prefers money donations for community memorials.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco on Friday, May 28, and also one hour prior to services at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Cresco, IA. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Cresco, IA
