James Washington Williams passed away Monday morning at his home on Richards Street, following a long illness. He had lived in Florence for the past 15 years and was a member of the Missionary Baptist church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 402 at Greenhill.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the residence by the Rev. George Dailey. Interment followed in the local cemetery with graveside rites by the Florence Lodge. Brown-Service was in charge of funeral arrangements.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lola Grisham Williams; four daughters, Mrs. Naomi Roberson and Mrs. Ruby Risener, both of Florence; Mrs. Carrie Lee Brown, Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Mrs. Elese Young, Columbus, Ga.; a son, Rufus Williams, Cleveland, Ohio; a stepson, William H. Looney, San Diego, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
