Canton - Paul Fairis Reed, 88, of 125 Osborne Farm Road, Canton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 5, 2004.
He was a native of Pulaski County, Ga., and lived most of his life in Haywood County. He was a son of the late Robert Franklin and Texanna Aderhold Reed. He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Pearly Knight, Bertha Mathews, Alta Reed, Nola Ledford and Vernie Reed and six brothers, James, Russ, Ralph, Trav, Buster and Haldee Reed. He was employed by Greene Motor Sales in Canton and later retired from Anderson Chevrolet. He was a member of Crestview Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Theatre.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Blanche Greene Reed; daughter, Sharon Gail Bryson and her husband, Roy, of Canton; son, Michael Neal Greene and his wife, Deanna, of Waynesville; four grandchildren, Dana Greene, Tiare Mashburn, Sheena and Clayton Bryson; two great-grandchildren, William and Cody Bryson; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Crestview Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Ensley officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the church prior to the services. At other times the family will be at the residence. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the senior adult mens Sunday school class.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Crestview Baptist Church Building Fund, 3258 Pisgah Drive, Canton, NC 28716 or Haywood County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1275, Canton, NC 28716.
