Gertrude Irene Cook Hickok was born in Sandwich, IL June 25, 1873. Here she spent her childhood days and grew to womanhood.

On May 2, 1895 she was united in Marriage to Bert Hickok, after which they moved to Chicago, where Mr. Hickok was engaged in business. Two years later they returned to this city, and this spring they moved to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pratt.

Mrs. Hickok had been in ill health for more than a year past, but though the sickness was a mot trying one, she was patient at all times. The cause of her death, which came on Wednesday afternoon, June 29, 1899, was consumption, and to the weary soul came the rest eternal, and she left this world to join her mother and two brothers, who had preceded her to the better home where the wicked cease from troubling adn the weary are at rest.

Mrs. Hickok leaves, beside her husband, a father in this city, a brother, Melvin, in Cincinnati, OH, a brother George in Iowa Falls, IA, a sister Hattie of this city, and many friends to mourn her death.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday afternoon from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pratt, preached by Rev. J.M. Lewis. Interment was made at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
