EDWARD J. SPINARD, Sr., 84, of Archer Street, a letter carrier for the Providence Post Office for 32 years, retiring in 1972, died Saturday at his home. He was the husband of Ann (Cahir) Spinard. Born in Providence, a son of the late Emile and Annie (Callahan) Spinard, he was a resident of Pawtucket for 45 years. He was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Church. Mr. Spinard was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Medical Corps in Europe. He was a volunteer at LaSalette Shrine in Attleboro for several years, until he became ill. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers' Branch 15, Eugene LeFebvre VFW Post 1271, Armistice Post 45, and the American Legion- DAV, Little Rhody Post 2. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Edward J. Spinard Jr. of Bristol, William Spinard of Garrett Park, Md., and John Spinard of Medfield, Mass.; two daughters, Patricia Leclerc of Ventura, Calif., and Michele McLoughlin of Windermere, Fla.; and 14 grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Joseph Spinard, Frances Spinard and John Heagney. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Cheetham Mortuary Inc., 1012 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Leo the Great Church, Central Avenue, at 9. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans' Cemetery, Exeter.
