Frederick Abara, 89, of Tinton Falls, died peacefully on Saturday May 15, 2010 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.
Born in the Philippines, he traveled during his military career settling in the shore area in the 1960's. Mr. Abara retired as a SFC from the United States Army.
He loved spending time with his granddaughter and feeding the birds.
Mr. Abara was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Cayetana S. Abara in September of 2005. A son also predeceased him, Jose Gene Abara and a daughter, Lorna A. Bouchal.
Surviving is a son, Frederick S. Abara II and his wife Karen of Tinton Falls, and a granddaughter, Lyndsay Cayetana Bouchal.
Visitation will be at the Hoffman Funeral Home, 415 Broadway Long Branch on Wednesday May 19th. from 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home 10:30 am Thursday.
Interment Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
