Mr. John Quincy "Pete" Thompson, age 71 of 457 Homestead Trail, Ringgold, went home to live with his Lord on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro, N.C. where he had been a patient for three days and after a decline in health for several years.

Mr. Thompson was born on July 24, 1938 in Pittsylvania County, a son of the late Ballard Thompson and the late Ollie Gail Adkins Thompson. He had lived his earlier life and the past twenty years in Pittsylvania County. He was employed in the Construction Business as a Crane Operator until his retirement. He was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church. He was the last survivor of his generation. On January 6, 1956, he was married to Betty Lawson Thompson, who survives.

In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by five sons, John M. Thompson and wife, Linda of Chesterfield, Charles W. Thompson and wife, Wanda of Manson, N.C., David A. Thompson and wife, Paula of Richmond, Ronnie L. Thompson and wife, Stephanie of Richmond, David Lee Thompson of Chatham, three daughters, Anita G. Thompson of Hendersonville, N.C., Debra T. Segura of Ringgold, Darlene T. Novak and husband, John of Richmond. Also, surviving are 18 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Thompson was predeceased by a grandson, Preston Novak and a brother, Frank Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm. Wednesday, May, 19, 2010 at Temple Baptist Church by Rev. Roy Newton. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, May 18, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and at other times the family will be at the residence, 457 Homestead Trail, Ringgold.

The family suggest memorials may be sent to Temple Baptist Church Building Fund, 1325 Kentuck Road, Ringgold, Va. 24586.
