Anne, called Birdie, is the daughter of Arthur & Nance (née McGowan) McLarney of Marine Park, Brooklyn. The second of 5 children, the McLarney house on 54th Street was a loving home and around the block from her McGowan cousins & grandfather Capt. Michael McGowan & his wife, who the family called Aunt Ellen.
After her marriage to Peter Cosgrove, she moved to Bergan Co., New Jersey and raised her 5 children there. In the 1950's, her mother moved to Bergen to be close to her. Her brother & best friend Arthur lived with her & her family.
Birdie's life was devoted to her family. Her pride and joy was her role as a loving daughter, sister, mother and gram to her family. She believed that family came first. She placed great importance on education, compassion, character and involvement in helping others.
She was an active member of PTA of St. Cecilia, the Englewood Little league, the Boy and Girl Scouts of Englewood and the Catholic Daughters of America.
She worked for the US Postal Service for 17 years in South Hackensack, New Jersey.
At the time of her passing, she had 11 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren.
