R.E. Sellers, of Supply, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 13, 2010. He was the son of the late Rifton Ercell Sellers, Sr. and Naomi Swain Sellers. He married his best friend, Bobbie Mooney Sellers, in 1953 and they shared 56 wonderful years together.
R.E. enlisted in the United States Navy on September 5, 1947 and served honorably in the Korean War, finally retiring on April 17, 1972 with the rank of Boiler Tender Master Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the Navy, he moved back to his hometown of Supply, NC where he farmed and served on the Board of Directors for Farm Bureau in Shallotte. He also was an active member of Supply Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon along with singing in the choir.
Survived by his children and their spouses: Gloria and Michael Foss, Patti and William Hughes, Kaye and Larry Long, Donald and Susie Sellers; siblings: Lois Morgan, Avis and Chet Miller; grandchildren and spouses: Jamie Foss, Matthew Foss, Joshua Hughes, Shannon Hughes, Allison and Gilberto Sanchez, Aaron and Sonnie Long, John and Hannah Branning, Sarah and Scott Lewis, Michael and Carly Branning, Rance and Theresa Long, Drew Sellers and Devin Sellers, 20 great-grandchildren, and a special sister-in-law: Margie Mooney. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Mooney Sellers, sisters: Helen Sellers Ezzell and JoAnn Sellers McDowell and a granddaughter Cassandra Dagny Foss. Pall bearers will be his grandsons and great grandsons.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 3pm at Supply Baptist Church, Supply, NC with funeral service following at 4pm, conducted by Reverend Bill McNeil. Burial will be at Holden Cemetery on Stone Chimney Road.
