Clarence Ball, age 88 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2006.
A memorial gathering will be held at Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Sunday, October 22, from 3 to 5 p.m.
Clarence was born in Union Township on November 23, 1917, the son of Clarence and Anna Ball. He lived in Mt. Pleasant his whole life, marrying Margaret Downing in 1944. Clarence had farmed, worked as a mail carrier and worked for Hubschers gravel pit. Over the years Clarence enjoyed lapidary work, woodworking, camping and fishing on Lake Superior, playing cards, eating at Big Boy and Ponderosa, and spending time with family.
Clarence is survived by his wife of 62 years Margaret; Three children, Anne (Steve) Lees, Pat (Tom) Swindlehurst, and Mike (Jan) Ball; six grandchildren, Julie Swanson, Jay Perry, Aaron Swindlehurst, Elizabeth Oberlander, Christopher Ball, and Alexander Ball; six great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Michigan Community Hospital Building fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
