Nancy Josephine "Jo" Mason, 96, of Bluffton, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at Christian Care Retirement Community. Jo was born in Linn Grove, April 26, 1916, to Milo and Cora (Meshberger) Sales. She married Ward Mason in Rochester, March 28, 1937; he preceded her in death Sept. 4, 1993.
Jo graduated in 1934 from the Hartford Township High School in Linn Grove. She worked as a Receptionist at the Caylor-Nickel Clinic for 23 years retiring in 1978. Jo was a member of the First Reformed Church of Bluffton and a 66 year member and Past Matron of the Eastern Star.
Jo is survived by a daughter, Alice (Jan) Curry of Bluffton; two sons, Edward (Jean) Mason of Bluffton and Richard (June) Mason of Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren, Quinn Curry of Bluffton, Brett Curry of Little Rock, Ark., Brian Curry of Uniondale, Amanda Fox of Kouts, Sarah Pickell of Fort Wayne and Angie Lyttle of Indianapolis; 12 great-grandchildren, Nicole Curry, Scott Curry, Jennifer Curry, Landon Curry, Lacy Curry, Randee Curry, Jessica Curry, Todd Fox, Ryan Fox, Bailey Lyttle, Nathaniel Lyttle, and Adeline Lyttle.
Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home. Eastern Star Memorial Rites will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home, with Dr. Bryson E. "Gene" Bell officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the First Reformed Church of Bluffton Music Committee or to Christian Care Samaritan Fund.
