Her Obituary published in newspaper at time of her death: CANTON - Mrs. Emma Pressley Sharpe, 81, of Rt. 4 Canton, died tuesday in a Waynesville hospital after a long illness.
A lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Doctor Nelson and Ella Hipps Pressley.
Surviving are the husband, Albert Sharpe; two daughters, Mrs. Howard Cole and Mrs. Charles Long of Canton; a son, Charles E. Sharpe of Elkin; a sister, Mrs. Nathan DeBord of Candler; a brother Jess Pressley of Fairview; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Morning Star United Methodist Church of which she was a member. The Revs. Billy W. Clinard and Carter Parham will officiate. Burial will be in Morning Star Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes before the services.
