MORGAN, MARY ALICE Morgan, Mary Alice, 81, of Birmingham, passed away on November 18, 2008 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was surrounded by her family as she passed into the arms of the Lord. She was born on August 24, 1927 in Tallassee, Alabama. She attended Auburn University and graduated from University Hospital (Old Hillman) School of Nursing in 1949. In 1950, she married Dr. William C. Morgan. She was a member of Cahaba Heights Methodist Church. She was a graceful, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active leader in her community, serving on many community service boards, including the Alabama Dental Auxiliary, Oak Haven Garden Club, and as president of Brown Elementary School PTA. She was preceded in death by her parents Zera Godwin Fuller and Murray Godwin and is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dr. William C. Morgan; 2 sons, Bill (Debbie) Morgan, Bob (Valerie) Morgan; 3 daughters, Beverly Ann (Sandy) Martin, Mary Claire (Larry) Daniels, Becky Dale (Rodney)Johnson, all of Birmingham, She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild, and one sister, Jean Huey of Tallassee. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margie Dykes of Lawrence, Kansas. The family would like to express their heartfelt love and gratitude to Patricia Colmeneras, her caregiver, and Janis Lucas, nurse with Amedisys Hospice. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 20 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, at Elmwood Chapel. Funeral will follow at 1:00 PM with Dr. Ralph Bates officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Perry Morgan, Jeff Morgan, Bryan Martin, Alan Daniels, Michael Daniels, Will Daniels, Tommy Daniels, Robert Morgan, Jr. and Grant Morgan.
