Orval was the son of Albert W. and Adele (Antholz) Behrends, He was one of 7 children and was baptized Aug. 21, 1921 and confirmed April 5, 1936 at St.John's Lutheran (Stone)Church.
He married Aug. 20, 1942 to Ora Lucille Gerdes. To this marriage three children were born. Orval and his wife farmed in Nemaha County his entire lifetime.
He was a member of St. John (Stone)Lutheran Church. rural Auburn, NE.
He passed away at the Nemaha County Hospital at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 11 days.
Surviving are his wife, Ora Behrends of Johnson, NE. three children, Marilyn Knippelmeyer of Auburn, Ne .Eldon R. Behrends of Tucson, AZ, and Joyce Fortkamp of Champion, NE. 8 grandchildren, five brothers, Melvin Behrends and Ivan Behrends of Johnson, Clarence Behrends of Webber, KS. Chester Behrends of Johnson, NE., and Maynard Behrends of Auburn, NE. one sister, Mrs. Glen Remmers of Auburn, Ne.
Funeral services were held June 16, 1990 at St. John's Lutheran Stone Church conducted by Rev. Everett Brailey.
Pallbearers were Melvin Behrends, Ivan Behrends, Clarence Behrends, Chester Behrends, Maynard Behrends and Glen Remmers,
Mrs. Orville Gerdes was organist.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
