Elva Jane Powell Anderson (Muggy), age 89, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 in Green River.


She was born April 1, 1921 in Price to William Riley Powell and Jennie Isabella Luke Powell.


Elva was raised in Price and went to school there. She was a member of the LDS Church. She worked in many different jobs, but retired from Sperry Univac in 1985. Muggy's life was very family oriented and enjoyed being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed being in the outdoors with them, camping and going on picnics. After retiring, she moved to Aztec, New Mexico and spent her time working with ceramics and quilting and doing genealogy research. She loved walking with her dog, Punkin. They were a familiar sight in town. She lived a few years in Connecticut before returning to Utah, where she has been for the last eight years.


Elva is survived by four daughters: Pat, and her husband, Gary Spickelmier, Aztec, New Mexico, Sandie and her husband, Tom Stone, Plantsville, Connecticut, Linda Turner Layton and Barbara, and her husband, Bob Quist, Green River; twelve grandchildren: Tammy Kauvaka, Lorrie Bell, Jason Spickelmier, FaNon Spickelmier, Deborah Rosario, Bryan Stone, Carrie Zenger, Valarie Pearce, Curtis Turner, Cody Turner, Kenneth Quist and Darcie Quist; twenty-two great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a sister, Wilma Hilton, Salt Lake City.


She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William (Bus) Powell, Clifford (Dick) Powell, Clinton (Fat) Powell, and Wayne Powell; a sister, Nola Russell.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Third Ward Chapel of The Church of Latter-Day Saints in Price, (300 West 500 South). A viewing will be held at 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the Church.
Interment will be in the Grames-Powell Cemetery in Price.
