Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010 at St. Marcus Catholic Church, Clear Lake for Harold I. Halvorson, age 95, who died Thursday at his home. Rev. Virgil Helmin will officiate and burial will be at North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud with full military honors. Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at St. Marcus Catholic Church and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church. Arrangements were made by Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Clear Lake.
Harold Ingwald Halvorson was born Oct. 25, 1914 in Clear Lake to Edward & Inga (Bendickson) Halvorson. He married Katherine Holland on Jan. 24, 1951 in St. Paul. Katherine passed away on Oct. 26, 1992. Harold married Doris (Weis) Arnold on May 24, 1996. He lived in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area until moving to the Clear Lake area in 1979. Harold was a Car Inspector for Great Northern Railroad for 37 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Clear Lake American Legion Post 354 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 622 of St. Cloud.
Survivors include his wife, Doris of Clear Lake; stepchildren, Tim (Diane) Arnold of Clear Lake, Mike (Su) Arnold of Elk River, Pat (Shelley) Arnold of St. Cloud, Jeff Arnold of Clear Lake, Bob (Linda) Arnold of Clear Lake, Deb (E.J.) Beek of Mankato; nephew, Richard (Sandy) Larson of Clear Lake; niece, Barb Ingerson of Minneapolis; 9 step grandchildren and 14 step great grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Kay; brothers, Walter, Bernard and Edward; and sisters, Alvina Hansen, Albertine Larson and Anne Cleven.
