Rev. Ben J."Uncle Ben" Hite, 81 of White, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at his residence following a short illness. He was born in Bartow County December 1, 1928, and was the son of the late Benjamin Hite and the late Nancy C. Hite. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and was an ordained minister serving several churches in both Floyd and Bartow County. Preceding him in death are his parents and his siblings.
A loving father and husband, Ben is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Ruth Massey Hite of White; his sons, Daniel L. Hite of White, Joe Hite of Norcross; his daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Larry Roberson of Jackson, Ga., Elizabeth and Ellis Linn of Summersville, Ga.; special sons, Spencer Weeks of North Carolina and Ike Stubblefield of Norcross; grandchildren, Stacy and Chip Benton, Kevin and Page Mullinax, Bobby and Bekah Mullinax, Chad and Emily Roberson, Amy and Jim Luhring, Marie and Ryan Reed, Mary Paula Linn and Beth and Tommy Budnick; great-grandchildren, Beth Hamilton, Browning and Banks Benton, Lila and Lucy Mullinax, Carson Mullinax, Shane and Kate Roberson, Jake Budnick and special great-grandchildren, Faye Luhring and Ben Reed; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2010 from Mt. Zion Baptist Church with long time brother in Christ, Rev. Edwin Weaver officiating along with Jeremy Mullinax and Ryan Abernathy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Hite will be carried to the church to lie-in-state from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
Pallbearers are asked to meet at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Friday at 12:00 p.m. and will include: Daniel L. Hite, Ellis P. Linn, Kevin Mullinax, Jim Luhring, Spencer Weeks and Jimmy Blackburn. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Gene Evans, Roy Holmes, Scott Britt, Larry Roberson, James Bailey and Buddy Massey.
