Ethel Kelley Hicks Holt of Savannah died Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Hardin County General Hospital at the age of 84. She was born in Olive Hill on July 25, 1913, the daughter of the late Oscar and Birdie Franks Kelley. On Nov. 12, 1926, she was united in marriage to Hughes Nell Hicks, who preceded his wife in death on Oct. 15, 1975. On Dec. 19, 1976, Mrs. Holt married Wayne Holt of Savannah. She was a nurse's aide for the Hardin County General Hospital for 11 years. Mrs. Holt was also a member of Turkey Creek Union Church. She lived in Hardin County all of her life.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Friday Nov. 21, at Turkey Creek Union Church with burial in Memory Gardens. Judith Bonee and Daniel Hicks officiated.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Holt leaves five daughters, Joan Pierce, Judy Bonee, Dorothy Eliff, Brenda Hicks and Peggy Webb, all of Savannah; three sons, Jerry D., Daniel and John Hicks all of Savannah; and 35 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Holt was preceded in death by three sons, Wayne, Joe and Kelly Franks Hicks; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
