Daughter of Burnett Standley & Adella (Garrison) Standley.

Married Justin Stephen Griggs on September 24, 1905. She and Justin had 8 children; Ora Viola, Alvin Burnett, Wesley Justin, Harvey Wallace, Esther Ruth, Wilma Gladys, Florence May & Daniel Raymond.

Justin died in 1968, and in 1976 Viola married a second time to Lonzy Louis Hughes.

NOTES:

#1 Although at the time of death her last name was legally Hughes, she was buried with her first husband, and her marker gives her name as Viola N. Griggs. Cemetery records appear to list her name as Viola N. (Hughes) Griggs.

#2 While the marker on her grave spells her first name as "Viola," (the way it appears on most documents, and the way she seems to have written it most of her life), her birth and marriage records give the spelling as "Violia." In this case I chose to go with what was on the stone, since that was the way her name was most commonly spelled in daily life.
