Thomas W. Revelle Sr., 74, of the Garretts Bluff community passed from this life Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

A service in celebration of his life is to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Gantt officiating. Following the service, a motorcycle cortege is to take his remains home to Garretts Bluff, where a brief gathering of friends is planned.

The family is to receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 23 at the funeral home.

He was born July 5, 1935, in North Carolina, a son of Charles Howard and Nora Wencker Revelle. He married Noel Cain in 1957 in Durant, Okla. She preceded him in death in October 2000. He was a graduate of Allen Military Academy in Bryan. He was a retired rancher, but had earlier worked as a policeman and as a computer technician for IBM, and had worked in the Special Optics Division of Texas Instruments. He was a fisherman and enjoyed bass tournaments, and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He was a private pilot and a lover of animals. His happiest moments were spent doing good for others.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Vredenburgh; and a grandson, Nicolas Countryman.

Survivors include a son, Thomas (Tommy) Revelle Jr. and wife, Cathy, of Garretts Bluff; a daughter, Michele Reeves of Garretts Bluff; six grandchildren, Kyler Sisson, Hunter Sisson, Jamie Vredenburgh, Jason Vredenburgh, Cailey Whitson and Carrie Whitson; a sister-in-law, Lynn Rogers and husband, Mark; a niece, Krispen Kaiser; and his beloved canine friend and companion, Henry.

Named as honorary pallbearers are Weldon Love and the members of the Cossacks M.C.
