David was born March 26, 1944, in Gilmer to Joe William and Ozell Loyd. David served as Upshur County Commissioner for Precinct 3. He served as an Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop No. 312. David was president of the Texas Rodeo Association for 20 years and served as a director for the North American Rodeo Association. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, ElRay Loyd.
Mr. Loyd is survived by his wife, Carla Loyd of Gladewater; sons and daughter-in-law, Mark Loyd of Tyler, Michael and Karman Loyd of Longview; daughters and sons-in-law, Marty and Bret Osborn of San Francisco, Calif., Jennifer and Larry Prewitt of Houston; sisters, Rhonda Guthrie of Spring, Carolyn Sisson of Tyler; and five grandchildren, Morgan Elliott, Bailey and Reece Osborn and Ava and Hudson Loyd.
Pallbearers will be the Boy Scout Troop No. 312 Eagle Scouts. Honorary pallbearers are the Boy Scout Troop No. 312 and the Gladewater Rodeo Board of Directors.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, June 25, 2006, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer. .
