People of the community are saddened by the news of the death of Mrs. Peter Ploegsma at Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, April 19, from the effects of a stroke a few years ago from which she never fully recovered. Funeral services were held for her at the Reformed Church of which she was a member, Monday afternoon with the Rev. B. T. Vander Woude officiating.

Mrs. Ploegsma (Mary Groeneveld) was born in the Netherlands in the Province of Groningen on August 1, 1853. As a young child she came with her parents to this country. She spent most of her life in and around Chicago, Illinois. Her first husband was John Ter Haar from which union seven children were born.

After a period of widowhood she was united in marriage to Peter Ploegsma on April 15, 1918 with whom she came to Oak Harbor in 1920. Since coming here she has become well known in the community.

Some years ago she suffered a stroke from which she never fully recovered and from that time on her health gradually failed until the time of her death. She leaves her husband Peter Ploegsma of Oak Harbor and six of her children all living in the vicinity of Chicago.

Mr. Ploegsma wishes to thank friends and neighbors who helped with the funeral arrangements.
