Marshall - John Troy Allen of Marshall moved on to his heavenly home on Saturday February 2, 2013.

Troy was the son of Elijah and Emma Rice Allen. He was a wonderful Christian Man whose life touched many people.

Troy served our country in the Korean War. He was a faithful member of the Long Branch Baptist Church for 56 years where he served as a Deacon for 43 years. He was a member of the French Broad Masonic Lodge #292 for 47 years.

Troy worked for M.B. Haynes Electrical Company, Silvers Milling Company and P.R. Elam Company. He was part owner/operator of Bowman Hardware and owner of Troy's Repair Shop. He retired from Craggy Correctional Prison where he worked as a correctional officer.

Troy was not only a faithful church member, he was a family man. He enjoyed traveling, farming and playing rook with his long time friends Jeter and Lucille Cantrell. He was very active with his two Granddaughters, Cristy Anne Price of Marshall and Charlene Elizabeth Deaver of Boone.

Troy was married to Mary Catherine Briggs for 50 years and they had two daughters Cathy Emmette Price/Hubert Arvil Price and Josephine Denise Deaver/Charles James Deaver. After Catherine's death he married Faye Metcalf. He had one brother, Byard Allen and four sisters, Anna Lou Anderson, Juanita Rice, Gertrude Henderson Fellers and Emma Jean Fisher.

A celebration of Troy's life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday February 6, 2013 in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will follow in the Tillery Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 - 2 p.m. prior to the service.
