Asheville ~ Rebecca Lanning Hazelrigg, 61, of Asheville, died Saturday, December 27, 2008 at John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center.
A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of Mabel Rodgers Lanning of Asheville and the late Alvin Benjamin Lanning.
She was a graduate of Western Carolina University and was an English teacher at A.C. Reynolds High School until she decided to become a homemaker, taking care of her children and family.
In addition to her mother, Rebecca is survived by her husband of 35 years, Howard D. Hazelrigg; two daughters, Heather Loveless and her husband, Dr. Scott Loveless of Charlotte, NC and Megan Hazelrigg of Asheville; a granddaughter, Anne Loveless; three aunts, one uncle and numerous cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 30, 2008 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Burial will follow at Tweed's Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
