James worked in Elgin for many years at Charlie Coffin's garage as a mechanic and later in the 1940 census listed his job as "night watchman town of Elgin"
They had a house right on main street and Coffins garage was right behind it. Many people remember them sitting out on the porch and Waving to everyone likely because they knew everyone.James had a special name he gave to those he liked. Many will never forget the pet name he gave them.
James dealt with some nerve issues that caused his hands to shake and it progressed to make his mechanic work difficult.
He was a wonderful Grandfather. most of us Grand kids called Him Papa.
