Melvin Davis, 92, of Scottsville died at his home on Sunday January 18, 2009.

He was born Sunday June 25, 1916 to the late William Pasker Davis and Ellen Elizabeth Newton Davis.

He was preceded in death by all of his siblings, five sisters, Lucy Davis Melton, Mary Davis Melton Blackman, Eva Davis Melton Rogers, Margaret Davis Thacker, Hannah Davis Baker, four brothers, John Pasker Davis, Sylvester Davis, Linwood Tyler Davis, Jackson Davis. He was also preceded in death by his son in law, Leon Rasnake.

Melvin was a retired painter. He worked for many years for Arlene Stinson in Scottsville.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary B. Davis; two sons, Kenneth L. Davis and his wife Doris, Gregory Davis and his wife Vicky of Scottsville; three daughters, Shelby D. Rasnake, Brenda D. Maxey and her husband Tommy of Scottsville, Cheryl D. Roberts and her husband Ronnie of Charlottesville; eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by 10 nieces and 1 nephew. He was a member of Scottsville United Methodist Church.

A funeral service was conducted Wednesday January 21, 2009 at the Teague Funeral Home.
