Joseph Ernest Darst Jr., the son of Anna Ruby Tackaberry and Joseph Ernest Darst Sr., married Frances Lorraine Decker the daughter of William Earl Decker and Myrtle Watson. They were married c.1942.

After the death of Joseph's 1st wife, he married Edna Ruth "Ruthie" Gish-Brown the daughter of Buch and Montie Gish. They were married on November 20th, 1981 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. It was the 2nd marriage for both of them.
