Jessica was born July 9, 1986, in Northfield, where she was raised as a child and began kindergarten at Longfellow School. She continued through grade school and middle school, graduating from Northfield High School in 2004. Jessica enjoyed art and drawing classes. She loved to read and write and has a book of poetry that she wrote herself that expressed her feelings of this life on earth.
In her free time Jessica loved to be with her friends. She had many people in her life that she enjoyed being with, especially her best friends Bethany Almen and Amber Gillispie. Jessica loved listening to music, going for walks, taking crazy pictures and playing basketball. She loved Halloween — she always dressed up and said she would for the rest of her life!
Her very best friend was her little sister, Sierra. As little girls they spent hours together playing house and dressing up in costumes, making things out of anything they found or just laughing and making funny faces at each other. More recently they spent hours together watching movies and talking together. They loved to be with each other.
Jessica is survived by her parents, Lisa and Chris Law of Northfield; sister, Sierra Law of Northfield; father, Dave (Irene) Askelson of Medford; grandparents, Roger and Phyllis Maring of Northfield, and Robert Law of Northfield; aunts, Becky Maring, Jennifer (John) Riley, and Babs Vigesaa, all of Northfield; uncle, Bob (Lisa) Law of Norfolk, Va.; and cousins, Stephanie, Madeline and Nathan Riley of Northfield, and Kaylyn, Joshua and Cameron Kwiatkowski of Norfolk. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harlan and Helen Askelson, who loved her beyond anything; great-grandparents, Bill and Freda Fredrickson, and Adolph and Hilda Maring; great uncles, Richard Fredrickson and Harold Maring who was her Godfather.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010, at Vang Lutheran Church of rural Dennison. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 11 at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield and continues one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
