JOHNSTOWN, NC ~ Mr. Luther Raymond Vaughn, 77, of NC Highway 89 West, Westfield (Johnstown Community) passed away Friday, May 16, 2003, at his home. He was born Nov. 1, 1925, in Carroll County, Va., to Jim and Lola Alice Davis Vaughn. Mr. Vaughn was a member of Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church in Claudville, Va., and he owned and operated LRV Upholstery for 40 years. He loved the furniture business and took pride in his work. He will be missed terribly. As Dad said, "Old Indians never die, they just fade away." He is survived by his wife, Pauline Dodson Vaughn of the home; three daughters, Inaze Collins and Judy Ann Easter, both of Winston-Salem and Alice Faye Brannock of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Luther Clayton Vaughn and wife Linda Belle of Westfield; seven grandchildren, Bobby, Dwayne, Jennifer, Jessica, Samuel, Sarah and Joseph; a great-grandchild, Nicholas; a sister,Betty Jean Wilson of High Point; a half sister, Louise Turner of High Point; and two half brothers, James Vaughn and Brady Vaughn, both of Cana, Va. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church conducted by Elder J.H. Keaton, Elder Jimmy Lankford and Elder John Calhoun. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 this evening, May 17, 2003, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. Memorial may be made in floral tribute or to Northern Hospice. The Vaughn family is being served by Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain.
