Tommie J. Huckins, 91, passed peacefully in her sleep Saturday, April 3, 2010.
Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Tommie was born Nov. 22, 1918, in Sayre, Okla. She was a devoted friend and loving mother and grandmother. She always had a smile and interest in what her family and friends were doing. She readily volunteered to help others and fill leadership roles in many organizations she belonged to. Tommie was a member of Co-Workers Sunday School Class at Arlington Heights Methodist Church, Co-Webus Business Association, Rejabean Book Club, Meals on Wheels and Senior Friends, and was a lifetime member of the PTA. Tommie and husband, Harry, owned and managed a very successful jewelry and Hallmark card store until retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Harry Huckins; and brother, Cotton Neely.
Survivors: Daughter, Judy Moore and husband, Dave; son, Carl Huckins and wife, Myra; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Pat Lea and husband, H.A.
