Hadden, Roselyn B., age 89, died peacefully at her home in Carmel on Monday, January 21,
2008.

Mrs. Hadden was born in Southington, CT on May 12, 1918 to Daniel G. and Grace E. (Langdon) Barnes. She graduated from New Haven (Hill House) High School in New Haven, CT in 1935.

On October 16, 1936 she married Paul A. Hadden at the Lake Mahopac Methodist Church. Mr. Hadden died had died earlier.

Roselyn and her husband Paul owned and operated the Breezy Ridge Farm (pick your own strawberries) on Croton Falls Rd. in Mahopac, for 60 years. They grew a great variety of fruits, vegetables and flowers that they shared with family, friends and local food pantries. She will be remembered for her strawberry jam, which she hand delivered to all on a regular basis. Her greatest pleasure was doing for others and sharing her many blessings.

A resident of Carmel since 1996, Mrs. Hadden, was a member of FISH, a group of folks who would drive those in need to hospital and doctors offices. She continued this act of kindness through the Putnam Hospital Center as well. She was a member of the Lake Mahopac Methodist Church for many years and a donator of blood as often as she could until her age no longer permitted. Mrs. Hadden enjoyed reading, sewing and travel.

Roselyn treasured her family. They were the center of her life; the love she felt for them was evident by the collection of photo memories that adorned her home and the many stories she shared.

Mrs. Hadden is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Maria) Hadden of Willimantic, CT, and Michael (Theresa) Hadden of Brewster, NY; three daughters, Pattie Lee (Al) Berlingieri of East Northport, NY, Rosemary (Bob) Decatur of Patterson, NY and Joanne (Armando Marce) Hadden of Madrid, Spain. A nephew, (foster son), Edward Hadden of New Rochelle, NY; a brother, Eugene Canfield of Ocala, Fl; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and her wonderful caregiver, Dora Ama.
She was pre-deceased by three brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008 11:00AM at the Holmes United Methodist Church in Holmes, NY.

Roselyn always said she wanted her flowers while she was alive, so if you would like to honor her memory, in lieu of sending flowers to the church, please give a bouquet to someone you love, or make a donation to your favorite charity.
