--Nonagenarian, Resident of Sabattus 70 years, Dies at his home--
Sabattus -- John William Wood, 96, died at his residence, Elm Street, Monday evening.
He was born in Yorkshire, England, July 4, 1854, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wood. He was resident of Sabattus for 70 years.
Mr. Wood was a finishing room overseer for over 50 years, his most recent employment having been with Park's Mills, Inc., Webster. He was a member of the Community Baptist Church. He held membership in the Masonic order 76 years, and was affiliated with Webster Lodge, Sabattus. He was a charter member of Lakeside Lodge, OES.
He is survived by his widow, the former Julia Eaton; five sons, William H., Raymond; George W., Portland; Edward, Wales; Everett J., Munson, Mass; and Frank Wood, Sabattus; four daughters, Miss Celia Wood, Sebattus; Mrs. Amy L. Ashton, Pascoag, R.I.; Mrs. Margaret C. Sawyer, Tilton, N.H.; and Mrs. Annie M. McCann, Madison; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
