Maggie Mae Foster was born on 9-15-1896 in Hood Co.,TX. She was the oldest child born to James Barnett and Imer "Ima" Mae (Turner) Foster. Her grandparents were Robert and Mary Foster. They stayed in Hood Co. Her other grandparents were George and Barbry (Sheffield) Turner. When Maggie was 2 or 3 her parents moved to Bell Co. near Oenaville. Oenaville is close to Temple. Her brother Homer and sister Norah were both born in Bell Co. In 1905 the family moved to the Merkel area. Maggie attended schools around or in Merkel. Two more brothers were born in Taylor Co.: Otis and James Barnett II "JB". On 11-7-1916 she married Herbert Walker Patterson. They had one son, Truett Herbert Patterson. Maggie was a member of the Merkel Church of Christ. During the time she was married, she attended the Merkel United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Merkel Garden Club. Maggie and Herbert lived at 801 Oak for over 20 years. Maggie passed away on 1-17-1978 in Abilene, TX. Age 81. Services were held on 1-19-1978.
