MRS. MAUDE ROOT OF BIRDSEYE DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Mrs. Maude A. Root, 69, of R. 2, Birdseye, the wife of Albert Root, died at 3:30 a.m. today at her home near Birdseye.
Mrs. Root was born August 27, 1896, at Kyana to Charles and Florence Gillilant Dugan. She was married December 30, 1916, at New Albany to Albert Root of Ireland, Ind.,
Mrs. Root had been an invalid for the last eight years and for the past year had been bedfast. It was during the past year, while his wife was bedfast, that Mr. Root devoted his spare time to writing. His first novel, "Death Takes A Holiday", which he completed a few months ago, will soon by published by a New York firm.
Mrs. Maude Root is survived by her husband, Albert; two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Bolden of Birdseye and Mrs. Florence Colber of Torrence, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Hettie Stemply of Wickliffe; two brothers, Roy Dugan of Huntingburg and Cecil Dugan of Matterson, Ill., eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Interment in Mentor Cemetery.
