Rites Pending For Retired Smelter Worker
Funeral services for James Franklin Johns, 87, retired smelter worker whose death occurred at the Blackwell General hospital at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, were pending at Roberts funeral home Thursday.
His death followed a short illness, preceded by several months of failing health.
Mr. Johns came to Blackwell from Collinsville in 1916, at the opening of the Blackwell Zinc Co. smelter.
He was born August 17, 1857. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Laura MacLennon of Hawthorne, Calif., and three sons, William C. Johns, Pittsburg, Kans., and A.E. Johns & Guy Johns both of Blackwell, Okla.
