On last Sunday about 12 o'clock, while returning home from church, Ilert Kuper, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kuper living about eight miles northwest of Humboldt, was thrown from his horse and received injuries which resulted in his death yesterday morning at 3:30 o'clock. It seems that the horse he was riding struck its foot against the wheel of a carriage which was just in advance, causing it to stumble and Mr.Kuper was thrown to the ground with great violence, and striking on his head and shoulders, was rendered unconscious, in which condition he remained till the hour of his death. Patient watchers thought at times there was evidenced a possible return to consciousness, but the nature of his injuries demonstrated that his recovery was hardly possible.

Ilert was a sturdy, industrious boy of nineteen years, and was a favorite among his associates, and his sudden and untimely death casts a gloom over the entire community.
Funeral services will be conducted at the farm home this morning at ten o'clock, Rev. Miller presiding, and the remains interred in the Stone Church Cemetery(this is an error,it should read in the St.James Church Cemetery) To the bereaved family and relatives is extended the sympathy of all.

Note: he was age, 19 years, 5 months and 3 days.He was baptized July 6, 1879,St.James Church. He was confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church. The bible he received from his parents as a confirmation gift is now in the possesion of Dolores (Stutheit) Hahn. He was buried Oct. 14, 1898, according to St. James Church records.
