SARA B. ANDERSONSTAUNTON - Sara Frances (Brown) Anderson, 69, of 531 Marian Place, died Saturday morning (Aug. 12, 2000) after a long battle with cancer.She was born July 21, 1931, at Staunton, a daughter of Richard Francis and Ernestine (Smith) Brown.She was a faithful member and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Staunton. A certified mediator for the Supreme Court of Virginia, she volunteered at the Harrisonburg Community Mediation Center. She also volunteered her time to the Emily Smith Auxiliary of King's Daughters' Hospital, the Staunton Board of Equalization, and several state and local government committees.Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Dr. Alden S. Anderson Jr. two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. A. Scott Anderson III and Dr. Dawn E. Forbes of Roanoke and R. Mark and Valerie (Pandak) Anderson of Richmond a daughter, Sara Lewis Anderson-Vines of Staunton four grandchildren, Erin Anderson of Harrisonburg, Nick Vines of Staunton, Kristin and Bradley Anderson of Richmond a brother and sister-in-law, Richard M. and Diane Brown of Chester a very special aunt and friend, Louise S. Crawford, formerly of Steeles Tavern a most devoted friend, Sue Obenschain friends and relatives.A service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Staunton by Randolph Harrison with burial at Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.Pallbearers will be A.F. Sterrett, Millard A. Warren, Taylor Smith, Dirk Otto, R. Tony Brown, Pete Graves and Blair Vanstone.Honorary pallbearers will be Julia Boward, Rosie Campbell, Henry and Nancy Carey, Quintin and Kay Carr, Robert and Becky Harvill, Victor and Betty LaBonte, John and Ginny Lowe, Boyd Olsen, Warden and Mary Lou Parkins, Danny and Mary Pemberton, Tom and Ann Spotts, Jackie Tarington and Martha Wilkerson.The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 Thursday evening at Hamrick Funeral Home.Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.Daily News Leader -- Staunton, Augusta County, Virginia -- August 15, 2000 -- Tuesday -- Page #2A.
