ROGER A. BISH (1932-2010)
Roger A. Bish, 78, of Hinckley, Ill., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at his home surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

He was born March 9, 1932, in Aurora, the son of Harold and Ella (Riedelsperger) Bish.

Roger and Marlene "Sandy" Strever married in Hinckley on June 25, 1955. They spent 55 happy years together raising their three sons. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His wife and sons will always remember what a hard worker and dedicated father and husband he was, and his grandchildren will never forget all the time they spent with grandpa.

Mr. Bish served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. He attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hinckley. Roger started with his father in the trucking business and went on to build his own successful excavating company, Bish Excavating in Hinckley. He was, for many years, captain of the Hinckley Fire Department. Roger was past president of the Illinois Land Improvement Contractors Association. He was a member of the Hinckley Lions Club and the NRA. Roger coached Little League Baseball for several years. He liked the outdoors, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing with his family and friends, especially all the time he spent with them at the family cabin in northern Wisconsin. Roger loved to spend time with his grandchildren, whether spending a week at the cabin, or cheering them on at their sporting events.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Bish of Hinckley; his sons, Blaine Bish of Sugar Grove, Brent (Carol) Bish of Hinckley and Greg (Monica) Bish of Hinckley; his grandchildren, Sarah (Justin Tatro) Bish, Brandon (Leatha Smetzer) Bish, Matt (Jessica Dionne) Bish, and Jessica, Jennifer and Luke Bish; his great-grandchildren, Hazel and Eliza Tatro; his brother, Harold (Mary Lynn) Bish Jr. of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ella Bish; and his sister, Sylvia Bish.

Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple St. in Hinckley with Pastor Donald Balgeman officiating. Interment will be private.

Friends may visit from 3 p.m. until the Hour of Service on Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel in Hinckley.
