Lonny Gene Collins


Lonny Gene Collins, 63, of Beckley, died Monday, July 16, 2007, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley.

Born Sept. 26, 1943, at Workman's Creek, W.Va., he was the son of the late Emmitt F. and Gracie E. Summers Collins.

He was a retired coal miner for Consolidated Coal, Clear Fork. Lonny was a member of the UMWA District 17, Local 1330. He was an avid hunter.

He was preceded in death by his a daughter, Donna Jean Collins; two brothers, Tracy M. Collins and Clarence Collins; and one sister, Gertrude Beverly.

Survivors include wife, Mary E. Stewart Collins; three sons, Michael Collins, Paul Edward Collins and Gary Lee Collins, all of Workman's Creek; one brother, Jeffery Wayne Collins of Fayetteville, W.Va.; and four sisters, Maxie Atha of Dorothy, W.Va., Flossie Daniels of Dalton, Ohio, Wanda Stallings of Mansfield, Ohio, and Delerene Collins of Sylacuga, Ala. He is also survived two special friends and their children, Steve Stover and Angel Stover and Jared and Ian Stover.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2007, at Workman's Creek Methodist Church in Clear Creek with the Rev. Jerry Lawrence officiating. Burial will be at Workman's Creek Cemetery, Clear Creek, W.Va.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Workman's Creek Methodist Church.
