William O. Pittman Sr.

William Oscar Pittman Sr., 65, of Lugoff, died Thursday, Oct. 11.

Born in Hull, Ga., he was a son of the late Oscar Dalton and Nellie Ruth Burroughs Pittman. Mr. Pittman was a retired Captain of the Columbia Fire Department, was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, a former member of Eastover Hunt Club and Local Union 793, and owned his own paint contracting business.

Mr. Pittman was married to Shelby Branham Pittman.

Surviving in addition to his wife are six sons and five daughters-in-law, William Jr. and Dianne Pittman, of Augusta, and Carleton Sr. and Sue Pittman, David and Linda Pittman, Carleton Jr. and Tracy Pittman, Dalton and Susan Pittman, and Michael Pittman Sr., all of Elgin; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sue and Rod Donahue and Melissa A. Pittman, all of Elgin; nine grandchildren, Jessica and Crystal Pittman, of Brunswick, Ga., Russell and Austin Donahue, and Amanda, Shelby, Megan, McLaurin and Mary Pittman, all of Elgin, and Michael Pittman Jr., of Columbia; a brother, Jerry P. Pittman, of Columbia; and a sister, Shirley P. Padget, of Columbia.

Graveside services were held Saturday at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia. Pastor Steven Bouknight officiated.
