Doris was born to Herbert and Iva (Martin) Schall. She married Lloyd Briggs at the Breckenridge United Methodist Church. She owned and operated Doris's Beauty Shop for 75 years. She was a member of the Breckenridge O.E.S. for 71 years, and the Breckenridge United Methodist Church for 78 years where she actively lived her faith and gave flowers for every Sunday service in the summer. She enjoyed baking cookies for her neighbors and friends, spending time in her garden where she was known as the Tulip Lady.
She is survived by her daughter Judy Roslund of Ithaca, sons Jack (Valerie) Briggs of Lowell, Richard Briggs of Bradenton, FL., daughter-in-law, Margaret (Alan) Weberg of Breckenridge, 11 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. Also sisters Carol (Bill) Hayes of Freeland, Jeanne Ostrander of Breckenridge, sisters-in-law Katherine "Boots" Schall, and brother-in-law Jim and Bonnie Briggs.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd, son Larry Briggs and brothers George and Robert Schall
A funeral service was held Friday, August 7, 2009 at the Breckenridge United Methodist Church with Pastor Dale Golden officiating.
Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery.
Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Breckenridge United Methodist Church or the Breckenridge Historical Society.
