Edmond Seifert was born in Kuhschnappel, Saxony. At the age of 16 he sailed by himself from Breman, Germany on the S.S. Main arriving in New York on October 4, 1869. He went on to Cooper County, Missouri to meet up with his older brother, Oswald, who came to the U.S. in 1868. The rest of the family would arrive in 1870.
Edmond left Missouri for a brief period to go with the family to Oregon. His brother Moritz came back to Cooper County and fell in love with Caroline Schilb. When he planned to marry, Edmond came back to have a double wedding and marry Caroline's sister, Mary. Edmond owned a farm and lived out his life in Cooper County, Missouri.
