Marieta was born to Archie and Lena (Mitchell) Aumaugher.
She graduated from Ithaca High School in 1953 and received her Bachelors degree from Alma College in Music Education. She received certification from Michigan State University to teach and administer special education. She received her Masters in Educational Administration from Central Michigan University.

Mrs. Clingenpeel started her teaching career with Wheeler, where she taught Kindergarten and music to all grades. She taught second grade at Breckenridge Schools followed by 8 years teaching mentally challenged. She was also the Special Education Administrator and continued that position as she became Elementary Principal for the next 21 years, retiring in 1991. She then went to CMU and taught student teachers for 7 years.

Marieta was named Principal of the Year for the State of Michigan.

Marieta was very involved in the Edgewood Church of God as organist, soloist, Music Committee and Lay Council.

In the community she was on the library board and the Historical Society.

In 1957, June 29th, Marieta married Dale Reed Clingenpeel who survives her. They were married 52 years. To this union were born four children, Cathy Clingenpeel of Breckenridge, Carolyn (Doug) Carle of Anderson, Indiana, Robert (Tammy) Clingenpeel of Stanton and Michael (Lisa) Clingenpeel of Wheeling, West Virginia. They blessed their parents with 14 grandchildren, Jason (Heidi) Aldrich, Jeff (Lisa) Aldrich, Jeri Lyn (Tom) Hurst, Jeremy (Nicki) Aldrich, Kevin, Zachary, Kayla and Claire Carle, Chris and Kelsey Clingenpeel, Nathan, Jordan and Allyson Clingenpeel. They also have four great grandchildren, Logan Hurst, Landen and Madilyn Aldrich and Zander Aldrich.

Mrs. Clingenpeel was preceded in death by her parents, and one grandson, Jacob Aldrich.

Funeral service was held Monday, July 6th at the Edgewood Church of God in Ithaca with Pastor David W. Perry, Dr. John Davey and Pastor Nathan Workman officiating. Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel, Breckenridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Edgewood Church of God.
