Clara Alice Thomas married James Thomas Pollard, son of Shepherd Pollard, in Roanoke, Virginia in 1875. She was born in Cumberland County, Virginia, her parents coming from Augusta County, Virginia. According to family sources, James Thomas Pollard was supposedly shot and killed (murdered), in 1894, place unknown.

Clara was supposedly penniless, so at the invitation of James' brother George Parker Pollard, she took her younger children to Waycross, GA. to live with George and wife Annie. She is listed in the 1900 Ware Co. census with children Bessie Blanche , Mattie Maude, Roy Earl and Lucy Lee. Her other children were Emory Oscar, Wade Hampton, Oscar, Owen, and Clara Alice Pollard.

If you are related to any of these, I would be very interested in hearing from you.
