He served in the US Army, and then was owner and operator in the automotive body and frame repair business for more than 50 years until his retirement.

Member of the First United Methodist Church; former member of the Elks Lodge in Nevada and active supporter of the Tiger Lilies Club in Lodi. He enjoyed fishing.
