Born Joyce Davis on September 26, 1935 in Kingsford, daughter of the late George Davis & Marion (Thistle) Davis, Joyce married Leonard Hood November 13, 1954 in Newberry. A devoted homemaker raising her family, she was also employed at Squires-Carmody Store for 26 years. Her hobbies and interests included quilting and gardening.
Besides her parents, Joyce Hood was preceded in death by her siblings Louis Davis, Wesley Davis and Helen Loper.
Survivors included her husband Leonard Hood of Newberry; children Lenis (Jan) of Bark River, Terry (Deb) of Troutman, NC, Elvis (Elise) of Escanaba, Sherry Littlejohn of Newberry, Penny (Eileen) Springer of Manistique, Vicky (Rod) Weisinger of Marquette and Linda (Jim) Bolda of Newberry; 29 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; siblings Maude Holbrook of Newberry, Rose Petoskey of Ann Arbor, Margaret Freed of Florida, Ruth Ranger of McMillan and James Davis of Newberry.
